Logo design and process for Dope Pockets Records est. in 2021
A newly established record label reached out for a distinct logo design. Initially, I had free creative rein, using an iPad Pro to hand-draw word-marks and icons. Presented below are three initial versions I crafted, culminating in the final chosen design.Below, you'll find three initial versions I developed, along with the final chosen design
Version 1: Inspiration Cactus Jack logo and Heavy metal fonts
The client sought inspiration from Travis Scott's innovative approach with the Cactus Jack brand. Although I had my own preferences, I focused on aligning with the record label's vision. In the end, I utilized my iPad to ensure their creative vision was fulfilled.
Version 2: Inspiration came from client rough draft and vinyl records
The client was thrilled with the second round of ideas. To capture their vision, I delved into vintage jazz labels and independent music producers from the 1950s. Understanding their emphasis on pockets symbolizing the "in the pocket" or “in the zone” concept, I centered the design around a vinyl record as a representation of that notion.
Final Product:
Ultimately, the client selected the modified vinyl record design. I made adjustments by removing the previous crack, adding an extra line, and introducing an alternative color scheme. I take pride in the iterative process and the final result. Although initial success happens at times, the collaborative effort ensured a satisfying outcome that delighted us all in the end.
